Detailed FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

The Artwork

What medium are the original paintings? All original paintings are on canvas, primarily in acrylics. Some works incorporate added oil pastels and ink for additional texture and depth. Each original is a one-of-a-kind piece.

Are canvas prints exact reproductions of the original paintings? Yes. Our prints are produced from high-resolution scans of the original paintings. Unlike digital art, our reproductions capture all the natural brushstrokes, paint variances, and original irregularities in exact detail, particularly noticeable at larger sizes, and a key reason our prints look strikingly similar to originals.

Do canvas prints have physical texture? The print surface does not replicate the physical texture of the original painting. While the visual detail — brushstrokes, paint variation, depth — is faithfully reproduced, the canvas surface is smooth.

Do colors on screen match the actual print? Colors on our website are very accurate though your computer monitor's calibration and settings may slightly change the colors.

Can the artwork be reproduced in different colors? No. All prints are produced directly from original scans without digital or manual color manipulation. This preserves the integrity of the original work and is not something we are able to modify.

Do you carry sizes other than what is listed? Yes. The sizes listed are our most commonly ordered. Custom sizes are available for most pieces for a small additional fee. Contact us with your dimensions and the piece you are interested in.

Artwork Material & Formats

What is the difference between rolled canvas and stretched canvas? Rolled canvas is printed and shipped in a protective tube. It is ideal for clients who prefer to have the canvas framed or stretched locally, or for shipments where a tube travels more reliably and cheaper than a framed piece. Stretched canvas is mounted on solid wood stretcher bars, gallery-wrapped, and arrives ready to hang with no additional framing required.

Are your original paintings on canvas? Yes, all original paintings are on high quality canvas stretched on wood stretcher bars, and wired in the back, ready to hang.

Do you offer other materials for print? Yes, for large orders including hotels, commercial spaces, or hospitals, we offer other formats such as framed paper prints. Contact us to discuss your options.

Sizing & Placement

How do I choose the right size for my artwork? Every product listing includes a reference image showing the best way to measure your walls for the size of the artwork. Please measure your wall space carefully before ordering — the vast majority of return requests are due to incorrect size selection. When in doubt, we are happy to advise if you share a photo of your space.

What size canvas print should I hang above a sofa?

Width: The general rule is that the width of the artwork above a sofa should be between two-thirds and three-quarters the width of the sofa, though many designers today push closer to 80% for a more intentional, contemporary look. For a 90-inch sofa that means art in the 60-72 inch range. If you are considering a diptych or triptych, the combined width of all panels plus the space between them counts as the total artwork width.

Height: the bottom of the piece should sit 6-8 inches above the sofa back to feel connected rather than floating. The center of the artwork should be at eye level of an average height person. You can push the height higher for more drama.

When in doubt, use a sticky-note for the corners of the panels on your wall before ordering — it takes two minutes and eliminates guesswork. We are also happy to advise if you share a photo of your space.

Working with Designers

How do you work with interior designers and decorators? This is a significant part of what we do. We work closely with interior designers and architects, TV, movie, and real estate stagers, and interior decorators on both residential and commercial projects. Our work has been selected for television productions including ABC's The Rookie and NBC's American Dream Builders. View our dedicated page for interior designers and architects for more detail, and feel free to contact us to start a conversation.

Do you work with hotels, corporate offices, and commercial spaces? Yes, commercial and hospitality projects are a significant part of what we do. Our canvas prints have been specified for boutique hotels, luxury residences, corporate offices, medical facilities, and short-term rental properties across the United States and internationally. We understand the requirements of commercial installations: consistent quality across multiple units, reliable production timelines, rolled or stretched formats depending on your installation method, and the ability to source multiple pieces from a single vendor. Our prints go up to 7 feet and beyond — large enough for hotel lobbies, double-height walls, and grand commercial spaces where standard art simply doesn't fill the room. Feel free to contact us to discuss your project.
